MRSA Infection: Do Inmates Need To Be Isolated?
Overview
Inmates with a MRSA infection can join fellow inmates once the following conditions are met:
- Skin infections need to be covered with a dressing, and the dressing needs to remain dry and intact. In other words, drainage should not be visible on the dressing. A soiled dressing will quickly spread MRSA bacteria to the surrounding environment.
- The inmate is able to keep the dressing in place. Uncooperative and mentally challenged inmates may have a longer absence due to inability to keep the dressing intact.
